Job Posting: Graphic Designer

Adams Outdoor Advertising is hiring for an entry-level graphic designer for our Charleston, SC office. Potential candidates should have 0-3 years of experience in an advertising or design position and a well-formed opinion on what makes a great ad.

As the graphic designer, you will take direction from and collaborate with the art director on a variety of projects. A lot of the work might be production-style work such as “exit now” for a hotel on I-95. When we’re done knocking that stuff out, we’ll sink our teeth into incredible projects like spectacular 3D sculpturesque designs for McDonald’s. (Did you see the board that was transformed into a giant box of french fries? We did that.) But the creative potential of each project is only limited by the effort we want to give to it.

Please send a résumé and work samples to Todd Turner at tturner@adamsoutdoor.com. Submissions without PDF samples or a link to an online portfolio will not be considered.

Who needs a passport when you have a billboard?

As told by Joy Butterworth, Account Executive for Adams Outdoor of Charlotte:

The story goes like this….

Christopher Warren-Green is the new conductor of the Charlotte Symphony. He is moving here from London with his wife and 2 children to conduct the Charlotte Symphony for the next 4+ years. Upon arriving at the Charlotte airport from London he realized he had forgotten his visa. He was then put in the terrorist interrogation room where “they” decide whether to let you in the country or send you back to where you came from.

A gentlemen in charge walked in the room for the interrogation and took one look at him and said,”I know who you are…I have seen you on billboards on my way to work each day. You are Christopher Warren-Green.” He was then allowed to rejoin his family and enter the United States to live happily ever after.

The Charlotte Symphony (on their limited non-profit budget) had 2 billboards on I-77 and 2 posters on secondary arteries for 4 weeks to announce their new conductor Christopher Warren-Green.

Now that my friends is powerful!

Pepper Steak Scented Billboard

Adams Outdoor Advertising in Charlotte partnered with Birdsong-Gregory and Bloom grocery stores to create a billboard an event sure to make you hungry. A device provided by ScentAir at the base of the structure emits a charcoal/hickory/steak aroma.

Stunned by statistics that 25% of children could live shorter lives because of the food they eat, Adams Outdoor Advertising created a campaign to bring awareness to the epidemic.

The biggest Mother’s Day card. Ever.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, the entire staff of Adams Outdoor Advertising in Charleston, SC wrote short notes to their moms or their wives. The messages are posted to a digital billboard on I-26 West and will run through Mother’s Day.
